Shoemaker Named Administrator of Humphreys County Memorial Hospital

BELZONI — As Humphreys County Memorial Hospital works to resolve its recent financial and organizational challenges, the hospital has turned to an expert in revitalizing struggling healthcare facilities. Ray Shoemaker, former CEO of Tri-Lakes Medical Center (TLMC) in Batesville , Mississippi has been hired as the hospital's new administrator.

Dishongh Named CEO at Rankin Medical Center
FLOWOOD — J. Dale Armour, Vice President of the Mississippi Division of Health Management Associates, Inc. announced this week that Cindy Lane Dishongh has been named Chief Executive Officer of Rankin Medical Center in Brandon, MS.
A Grenada native, Cindy holds a Master of Health Science degree from Mississippi College, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Health Information Management from the University of Mississippi Medical Center, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude.

Triplets Leave Wesley Medical Center

HATTIESBURG — Spencer, Ethan and Ramsey Ruff , sons of Cindy and Paul Ruff, model the caps and blankets made for them while they stayed at Wesley Medical Center's Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The triplets were born January 30, 2007 and went home together with their parents on March 6, 2007. Mrs. Loretta Picken of Taylorsville, MS, a Wesley volunteer, made the caps and blankets for the boys.

Forrest General Hospital Unveils New Equipment in Radiology Department

HATTIESBURG — Forrest General Hospital Nuclear Medicine in the Radiology Department recently unveiled a new state-of-the-art piece of equipment called GE Infinia. The GE Infinia allows Forrest General physicians to see more detail, improve confidence in diagnoses and consistently improve patient care.

Forrest General is the only hospital in the area to have this particular brand of equipment. The Infinia imaging system delivers unprecedented image quality and provides diagnostic confidence to physicians at Forrest General with a proven impact on patient management. Infinia offers tremendous patient flexibility by allowing for all scanning positions in an ultra-rapid scan cycle.

With GE's Infinia, Forrest General physicians can more accurately detect disease that may otherwise not be detected by other means such as with CT scans alone. Forrest General physicians can now determine the location of the disease, distinguishing it from normal tissue and physiological activity.

King's Daughter Medical Center Named Hospital of the Year by Mississippi Blood Services

BROOKHAVEN — Mississippi Blood Services recently named King's Daughter Medical Center as Hospital of the Year for 2006 at an awards ceremony in Jackson.
Mississippi Blood Services supplied the hospital with nearly 1,800 units of blood components in 2006. These needs were met in part by the almost 800 units of blood collected at the hospital. Other drives were also held in the community throughout the year in support of the hospital.

Dr. Ball Recertified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology

JACKSON — Chris Ball, MD, an OB/GYN, has been recertified by the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology (ABOG). The ABOG examines and certifies nearly 1,700 obstetrician-gynecologists and sub-specialists in maternal-fetal medicine, reproductive endocrinology/ infertility and gynecologic oncology each year.

Dr. Ball actively practices medicine at the Clinic for Women of Central Mississippi and is past Chief of Staff at Central Mississippi Medical Center. He has over 20 years experience in obstetrics and gynecology and is Past President of the Jackson (Gynecic) OB/GYN Society. Dr. Ball has admitting privileges at Central Mississippi Medical Center.

Richards Named CEO at River Oaks

FLOWOOD — J. Dale Armour, Mississippi Divisional Vice President of Health Management Associates, Inc. (HMA) announced today that Davis Richards has been named Chief Executive Officer of River Oaks Health System in Flowood, MS.
Richards received his Associate of Arts degree from Holmes Community College and his Bachelor of Science degree from Mississippi State University. He earned a Master of Business Administration and Master of Hospital Administration degrees from Mississippi College.

North Mississippi Senior Expo, May 11, 2007

SOUTHAVEN — LifeStyle Transitions announces the second annual Senior Expo to be held at the Southaven Arena, Hwy. 51, Southaven, MS, May 11, 2007, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Last year's (2006) event featured more than 70 vendor booths and displays ranging from medical professionals to retirement living estate planning. Supported by city and county governmental agencies, the Senior Expo drew more than 700 visitors from Desoto, Marshall, Tate and Tunica Counties in Mississippi and Shelby County, Tennessee. Founder of LifeStyle Transitions, Susan East, a Realtor with Crye-Leike Realtors, Southaven, feels that this year's event will be bigger and better. "The theme for the 2007 Senior Expo is a Senior Carnival", said East, "We will feature numerous carnival games with prizes awarded to participants, clowns will host the event and a Live Band will perform throughout the day."
