Cook Named MHA Trustee of the Year
John Cook, MD, chief of staff at Rankin Medical Center in Brandon, has been named as the recipient of the Mississippi Hospital Association (MHA) 2006 Distinguished Hospital Trustee Award.
The award, presented at the annual membership luncheon during the Association's 75th Annual Leadership Conference held recently in Birmingham, Ala., was developed in 1996 to recognize exemplary, dedicated services in hospital governance. "Trustees play an increasingly important role in a complex health care system. Their hospital leadership, though not often recognized as such, is truly community service," said Sam W. Cameron, President/CEO of MHA.
Dr. Cook is a native of Meridian, Miss. While in high school, he worked as an orderly in the Surgery Department at Rush Memorial Hospital. He later attended the University of Mississippi Medical Center and also completed his surgical residency there also.
