Dogwood Physical Therapy Unveils HydroWorx® Pool

More often these days, superstar athletes are making faster returns to the field after an injury.

It begs the question: what state-of-the-art treatments are being used by professional franchises and could they benefit the average patient?

Last month, after diligent research to answer that query, Medicomp Rehabilitation Network, the corporate parent of Dogwood Physical Therapy of Flowood, invested $270,000 toward rebuilding its facility, using the most innovative physical therapies available.

The main attraction: the HydroWorx® Pool, a 15-by-10-feet pool with an underwater treadmill, resistance jets, hydromassage and underwater monitoring system.

This technologically advanced pool has quickly become the preferred choice of treatment among top athletic trainers, physical therapists and orthopedic surgeons, who give the therapeutic applications high marks. The underwater treadmill and resistance jets provide athletes of all levels a joint-friendly tool for training and conditioning. Patients can begin treatment earlier and recover faster.

"While we're extremely proud of this wonderful treatment option, our focus remains on providing our patients with rehabilitation designed specifically for their individual needs," said Medicomp regional director Scot Huffman. "The HydroWorx® Pool definitely gives us a better tool to meet more of those needs. Now we're able to treat a variety of special conditions through a less stressful and more effective process, conditions such as arthritis and fibromyalgia, orthopedic, chronic pain, neurological and neuromuscular, overuse and athletic injuries."
