Hattiesburg Clinic Physician Earns Recertification
Hattiesburg Clinic announces the certification of Barbara S. Barnard, MS, DO by the American Board of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R). PM&R physicians, or physiatrists, specialize in the rehabilitation of patients with spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke and trauma as well as the non-surgical treatment of the musculoskeletal system. The musculoskeletal system includes bones, joints, muscles, spine, arms and legs. PM&R specialists are experts in sports medicine, spine medicine, pain management and work-related injuries.
Dr. Barnard received her medical degree from the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine in Pennsylvania. She completed an internship at Frankford Hospitals-Jefferson Health System in Philadelphia, Pa. and a residency program in physical medicine and rehabilitation at Virginia Commonwealth University/Medical College of Virginia in Richmond. She also holds a master's degree in Health/Fitness Management from the American University in Washington, D.C. Dr. Barnard received her certificate in medical acupuncture from Helms Medical Institute at the University of California in Los Angeles.
