Moss Point Clinic Meeting Community Needs
Just five months after the opening of Coastal Family Health Center in Moss Point, the medical clinic is serving a vital need for the citizens of that community.
"Right now we're seeing about 200 patients per week," said Dr. Sid Ross, who combines with Dr. Sam Simmons to provide physician staffing at the clinic. "Our goal is to serve 325 patients a week, and the response of the community indicates we are headed that way."
After Hurricane Katrina, Moss Point was left with a somewhat dire situation as to family medical practice. Singing River Hospital System combined with Coastal Family Health Center to spearhead an effort to bring family care back to the community. Significant assistance came from groups such as Project Hope, Hands Across America, and Merck Pharmaceuticals to help make the clinic become a reality in late May.
