NMMC Behavioral Health Center to Sponsor Psychiatric Conference
TUPELO — North Mississippi Medical Center's Behavioral Health Center will sponsor "Building Bridges: Spanning the Gap," a continuing education conference on mental health issues, March 28-29 at the NMMC North Education Center, 830 S. Gloster St.

Sessions run from The target audience includes nurses, pharmacists, social workers, licensed professional counselors, licensed marriage and family therapists, and certified addiction professionals.

March 28 topics include managing the aggressive patient; anxiety disorder; psychosis; dementia, delirium and depression; domestic violence and extrapyrminal side effects (EPSE).

March 29 topics include metabolic issues in the treatment of psychotic disorders, assessing the elderly patient, medication compliance, bipolar disorder, chemical dependency and ethics. A panel of experts will discuss accessing services.

The conference is free to NMMC staff. Advance registration for others is $110 for both days ($120 after March 1) or $50 for one day. Students may register for $75 for both days or $40 for one day.
