Publishing Veteran Joins Medical News Team

Betty Revis - Director of Advertising
Betty Revis has joined the Medical News team as director of advertising for Mississippi Medical News.

Since 2005, Revis has worked in various capacities with SouthComm Publishing Company, parent company of Brentwood, Tenn.-based Medical News Papers, Inc., most recently as project sales manager of a special publication in the metro Houston area. She joined Mississippi Medical News in early July, bringing with her a vast experience in sales, marketing, and leadership, particularly developing and implementing strategic programs.

"We're honored to have someone of Betty's caliber representing our organization and the Mississippi market," said Mac Hardcastle, CEO of Medical News Papers. "Betty brings a wealth of expertise in the publishing industry to our team."

Before joining SouthComm, Revis lived in the Memphis metro area for two decades, serving as vice president of sales for Heritage Media Corp. from 2002 to 2004. For a dozen years beginning in 1990, she was vice president of sales for Memphis-based Towery Publishing Co. While there, she managed sales of 50 publications in 30 cities nationwide, negotiating contracts with clients and vendors and supervising 20 employees. She served as the primary liaison between the company and chambers of commerce. Specific achievements include consistently increasing sales by an average of 25 percent annually and increasing division revenues by more than $4 million.

Before joining Towery Publishing, Revis worked in various capacities – as owner of Corporate Financial Services, a licensed insurance agent for Guardian Insurance, and a licensed real estate agent for Malone Realty.

Now a resident of Brandon, Revis is responsible for developing new business and special projects for Mississippi Medical News and other SouthComm projects.

Revis has three sons – Jim, who works in sales and marketing; Scott, a stockbroker; and Chris, a retired lieutenant colonel in the Air Force, who earned a doctorate at the University of Southern Mississippi and specialized in psychiatric medicine at Harvard Medical School. She has five grandchildren – Isabelle, 9, Andres, 6, Conner, 6, and 3-year-old identical twin girls, Darby and Kelsey.

"I'm excited to be back in Mississippi, because it holds my heart," said Revis. "I look forward to working with Mississippi Medical News. It's great to work with such a progressive and quality company."
